First Aid – Holiday Hints

First Aid – Holiday HintsDuring the holidays, an ambulance may be late for reasons beyond its control. Therefore, it is extremely important to be able to provide first aid to yourself or your loved ones who are in trouble correctly and promptly. Sometimes life depends on it, so the main thing is not to get lost in a stressful situation and be ready for anything. Be sure to purchase everything required in the online Canadian pharmacy.

First aid is a set of urgent measures aimed at saving a person’s life. Accident, acute attack of the disease, poisoning – in these and other emergency situations, competent first aid is needed.

According to the law, first aid is not medical – it is done before the arrival of doctors or delivery of the victim to the hospital. The first help can be provided by any person who is at a critical moment next to the victim. For some categories of citizens, first aid is an official duty. We are talking about policemen, servicemen, firemen.

First aid algorithm has its rules and a process that is aimed at, basically, one point: not to bring damage or make it worse.

Bleeding

Stopping bleeding is a measure to stop the loss of blood. When providing first aid, it is about stopping external bleeding. Depending on the type of vessel, capillary, venous, and arterial bleeding is isolated.

Stopping of capillary bleeding is carried out by imposing an aseptic bandage and if the arms or legs are injured, by raising the limbs above the level of the trunk.

With venous bleeding, a pressure bandage is applied. To do this, a tampon is to be put: gauze is applied to the wound, several layers of cotton wool are laid on top of it (if there is no cotton wool, use a clean towel), and it is tightly banded. The veins throttled with such a bandage are quickly thrombosed, and the bleeding stops. If the pressure bandage gets wet, press hard on it with the palm of your hand.

To stop arterial bleeding, the artery needs to be squeezed.

Fainting

Fainting is a sudden loss of consciousness caused by a temporary impairment of cerebral blood flow. In other words, it is a signal from the brain that it lacks oxygen.

It is important to distinguish between normal and epileptic fainting. The first is usually preceded by nausea and dizziness.

An advanced state is characterized by the fact that a person rolls his or her eyes, becomes covered with a cold sweat, the pulse weakens, the limbs become cold.

Typical situations of onset of syncope:

  • fright,
  • excitement,
  • stuffiness and others.

If a person faints, give him or her comfortable horizontal position and provide fresh air (unbutton, loosen the strap, open the windows and doors). Spray on the victim’s face with cold water; pat him or her on the cheeks. If you have a first aid kit at your fingertips, give a patient a sniff of a cotton swab moistened with ammonia. When the victim comes to conscious, give him or her strong tea or coffee.

Pay attention: in addition to potent drugs, it is worth buying in the online pharmacy such simple things as a bandage, iodine, etc., because in an emergency, they can literally save a life.
